Constance Wu's early life and career began in Richmond, Virginia, where she was born and raised. Her parents, both immigrants from Taiwan, were a computer programmer and a college professor, respectively. Growing up, Constance was heavily involved in the local community theater scene, laying the foundation for her future in the performing arts.
At the age of 16, Constance made the bold decision to relocate to New York City, where she enrolled in the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
