Corina Calderon is a talented American actress, renowned for her captivating portrayal of Jazmine in the 2012 film End of Watch, directed by David Ayer and starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña.
Born in Moline, Illinois, Calderon is the eldest of three sisters to Mexican-American parents, Nora Martinez and Robert Calderon, a musician. Growing up in Austin, Texas, she began her artistic journey at the tender age of four, performing Ballet Folklorico with a local dance group led by her grandmother.
As she grew older, Calderon's passion for acting only intensified, and at the age of 15, she started waiting tables to finance her acting classes and headshots. She subsequently enrolled in theater classes at Austin Community College and later honed her craft with renowned instructors Mona Lee Fultz, Ben Taylor, and Van Brooks at Two Chairs Studio.
While pursuing her acting career, Calderon continued to nurture her love for dance, joining a dance team for a local hip-hop radio station. Her dedication and perseverance eventually led her to book her first lead role in the Sundance-nominated feature film All She Can (2011),for which she received widespread critical acclaim.
Calderon's breakthrough performance earned her the title of Breakout Actress of The Year and Actress to Watch at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, with Deadline praising her "auspicious debut as a leading lady."
