Biography

Courtney Solomon is a multifaceted individual with a passion for storytelling, entrepreneurship, and creative expression. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, he spent a significant portion of his childhood on film sets where his mother worked in various capacities, fostering an early interest in the film industry.

At the age of 19, Solomon founded Sweetpea Entertainment, the first of several production companies, with the goal of bringing the world-renowned "DUNGEONS & DRAGONS" property to the big screen. His vision was realized with the release of the film, which grossed over $75 million globally.

Solomon's success with "DUNGEONS & DRAGONS" led to the formation of After Dark Films, a label dedicated to producing horror, thriller, and action titles. His first project under this banner was "AN AMERICAN HAUNTING," starring Donald Sutherland and Sissy Spacek, which became a critical and commercial success.

The success of "AN AMERICAN HAUNTING" resulted in a long-term distribution and co-production arrangement with Lionsgate Films, and Solomon went on to create the "8 Films to Die For" horror film festival, which became an annual event for six years. He also launched an action film festival, "ActionFest," in cooperation with Warner Bros.

In 2014, Solomon partnered with Mark Canton to produce a slate of dramatic feature films, including "CAKE," "MR. CHURCH," "THE COMEDIAN," "THE YELLOW BIRDS," and "BURN YOUR MAPS." The partnership also resulted in the critically acclaimed "CAKE," starring Jennifer Aniston, which received several award nominations.

Solomon's recent projects include the film "AFTER," based on the bestselling novel series, which became an international hit and grossed $80 million worldwide. He also acquired the rights to the world-famous comic book series "FABULOUS FURRY FREAK BROTHERS" and produced an animated series, "THE FREAK BROTHERS," which debuted in 2020.

In addition to his work in film and television, Solomon has also been involved in the production of the cult classic remake "THE STRANGERS," directed by Renny Harlin, and the action film "RED SONJA," starring Matilda Lutz. He is also working on the post-production of "ARTHUR THE KING," based on Mikael Lindnord's book, starring Mark Wahlberg, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Simu Liu.
