Cranston Komuro, a highly accomplished individual, had recently earned his Master's degree from the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles's Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning, and was leading the City of Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Unit as the Lead Investigator.
It was on First Street in Little Tokyo that filmmaker Amir Shervan spotted Komuro, and after initial hesitation, Komuro was persuaded to join the cast of Shervan's movie, ultimately playing the role of Fujiyama in Samurai Cop. Interestingly, Komuro had not watched the entire film until 2014, when he discovered it had developed a devoted cult following.
Furthermore, Komuro was not formally credited for his role in Samurai Cop until Director Gregory Hatanaka uncovered the connection in 2014. Following the production of the movie, Komuro continued his successful career in housing policy, serving as a Community Builder at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development under then-Secretary Andrew Cuomo, before moving on to complete projects in Chinatown and the 1st Council District for LA City Councilman Mike Hernandez.
Throughout his acting career, Komuro appeared in minor roles in other notable films, including When Hell Was in Session and Bobby Z. Prior to his acting pursuits, Komuro served as a Military Police officer in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970, where he escorted convoys.
In his personal life, Komuro married his wife, Natalie, in 1999, and they reside in Pasadena with their son.
