Crystal Rivers Badeaux is a dedicated advocate for actors with disabilities, utilizing her extensive experience spanning over 16 years in both behind-the-scenes and on-camera roles to effectively communicate mobility and ability needs to production teams on behalf of performers with disabilities.
With a strong passion for promoting representation and inclusion, Badeaux's ultimate goal is to ensure that the 25% of the global population living with a disability – roughly one in four individuals – are accurately represented on screen.
Unfortunately, according to a watchful organization monitoring the industry, less than 2% of television shows currently feature performers with disabilities, with the majority of these roles being portrayed by able-bodied actors, primarily in the UK.
Badeaux's objective is to push for significant change by advocating for the inclusion of performers with disabilities in the Casting Data Report for diversity, ultimately paving the way for more authentic and inclusive storytelling that reflects the experiences of the disability community.
