Cynthia was most recently seen in the crime drama series The Family Business on BET, as well as playing the action heroine Shima in the TV pilot XXENOS, which won Best TV Pilot - Drama at the Omni Cultural TV Festival in Hollywood, California, in 2019. She will next be featured in the film Ghost in the Graveyard, starring alongside Kelli Berglund, which will premiere at the Dances with Films Festival in Hollywood, California, as the closing night feature in the summer of 2019.
Originally from the Chicagoland area, Cynthia spent her adolescence in Las Vegas before moving to Los Angeles after graduating as high school valedictorian. She continued her education at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she earned a Summa Cum Laude degree. She has since honed her craft under the guidance of Master Teacher Gloria Gifford and has also studied at Lesly Kahn & Co., Margie Haber Studio, and the Hothouse Spontaneous Theater Company.
Prior to her acting career, Cynthia worked as a news reporter and made her acting debut in an episode of the HBO drama The Newsroom, which was written by Aaron Sorkin. She has also been directed by renowned filmmakers Theodore Melfi and Alonso Mayo, and has worked on several award-winning projects, including the web series Untitled Murder Project 2.0.
As a stage-trained actress, Cynthia has been directed by prominent theater directors Peter DuBois and Stephen Belber, and has received critical acclaim for her performances in productions such as The Power of Duff at the Geffen Playhouse and Joyce Carol Oates' I Stand Before You Naked. She is a member of the award-winning GGC Players Theatre Company in Hollywood, California, where she has starred in a range of roles, including Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Luciana in The Comedy of Errors, Juliet in Romeo & Juliet, and Cleopatra.
