Ramon Ayala, professionally known as Daddy Yankee, was born on February 3, 1976, in Villa Kennedy, Santruce, Puerto Rico. At the tender age of 13, he began to hone his skills in rhyming and singing, laying the foundation for a successful music career.
Daddy Yankee's early career saw him making a notable appearance on DJ Tony Touch's album "The Piece-Maker". However, his talents extended beyond just singing and rapping, as he went on to establish his own record label, El Cartel Records.
Following the immense success of his album "Cartel de Yankee", which was certified platinum in Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee's life took a significant turn for the better. He earned the nickname "El Rey de la Improvisación" and won numerous awards, including five consecutive Street Jam Reggae Awards for Best Improvisation.
Throughout his illustrious career, Daddy Yankee has won a plethora of awards, including Best Voice, Best Song/Lyric, and Best Artist. His close friendship with reggaetón artist Nicky Jam has led to collaborations and mutual support.
As a renowned producer, Daddy Yankee has worked on various projects, including CDs and singles for other reggaetón artists. In 2004, he released his debut internationally distributed album "Barrio Fino", which is widely regarded as one of the best full-length albums in the reggaetón genre.
