Damian London's journey in the world of acting began in New York at the tender age of 16, when he landed his first contract by cleverly pretending to be 21 years old. This deception allowed him to audition for his screen debut as a Nazi youth, during which he also claimed to be fluent in German. However, instead of actually speaking the language, he memorized his lines and received guidance on proper pronunciation from local German greengrocer owners.
Despite being underage, London joined the Screen Actors Guild soon after, paving the way for his future success. Eleven years would pass before he made his Hollywood film debut in a small role, but he eventually established himself as a television guest actor, appearing in a range of popular cult shows including Get Smart, I Dream of Jeannie, Mannix, The F.B.I., Tales of the Unexpected, and Seinfeld.
London's most enduring role, however, is that of the sad and ill-fated Centauri Regent Milo Virini in Babylon 5, a character whose quirks were often created or improvised by the actor himself. In a 2000 interview, London reflected on the creative freedom he enjoyed during his time on the show, stating that scripts would often leave it up to the actor to determine how their character would deliver certain lines or react to specific scenes, with minimal direction from producers.
