Dan Goggin, a talented singer from Alma, Michigan, embarked on a journey to New York City to hone his craft. Prior to becoming a renowned composer, he took the stage in the Broadway production of "Luther" alongside the esteemed Albert Finney.
During his time as part of the comic folk-duo "TheSaxons", Goggin began to explore his writing skills. His first musical composition was for the show "Hark", which marked the beginning of his foray into the world of musical theatre.
In 1986, Goggin's hard work paid off when he received the Outer Critics' Circle Awards for his work on "Nunsense" in the categories of Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Music. This groundbreaking show went on to run for 10 years in New York City and has since been performed in thousands of theatres around the world.
The "Nunsense" franchise has expanded to include numerous sequels, including "Nunsense 2", "Nunsense Jamboree", "Nunsense A-Men!", "Nuncrackers", "Meshuggah-Nuns", and "Nunsensations". These productions have starred a range of talented actors, including Rue McClanahan, Georgia Engel, and Vicki Lawrence.
Goggin's work has not only been recognized through awards but also through television specials. "Nunsense" and "Nunsense 2: The Second Coming" were both videotaped for the A&E Television Network and aired on PBS, earning Telly Awards in the process. "Nunsense 3: The Jamboree" toured the United States, starring Georgia Engel, and was recorded for television at the Grand Ole Opry, featuring Vicki Lawrence.
The television special "Nuncrackers" received an Emmy nomination for Best Musical Score and starred Rue McClanahan alongside guest star John Ritter.
Currently, Goggin is working on a new musical, "A Nunsensequel - Hollywood - The Final Frontier", which promises to be an exciting new chapter in his illustrious career.
