In the year 2021, a significant development occurred within the realm of the film industry, as Universal Pictures successfully acquired the rights to the original screenplay, aptly titled "Strays", penned by the renowned Perrault. This acquisition marks a new chapter in the production of the film, with Josh Greenbaum being entrusted with the directorial duties, while the acclaimed duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to assume the role of producers.
