James Clark Moloney, a dynamic and versatile individual, hailing from a family replete with artistic talent, where his father, James Clark Moloney, a multifaceted professional, has had a distinguished career as a talent agent, producer, and screenwriter, and his mother, Kathleen O'Malley, an accomplished actress, with a contract at the prestigious Universal Studios, and his brother, Jay Moloney, a former agent at the renowned Creative Artists Agency.
My father's influential connections and professional network enabled me to experience extraordinary birthday celebrations, marked by special appearances from none other than the iconic actor who portrayed Batman, Adam West, and his trusted sidekick, Bert Ward, who brought the dynamic duo to life.
On the other hand, my uncle, Paul Donnell, was a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, serving as the Vice President of TV at Universal Studios for an impressive eighteen years. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in shaping the studio's television division.
In addition to my family's connections, I had the opportunity to hone my acting skills through a recurring role on the popular daytime drama, General Hospital, from 1978 to 1983. Moreover, I was an integral part of the Comedy Store's improv scene, regularly taking the stage and entertaining audiences with my wit and humor.
As the years went by, I gradually redirected my attention towards the realm of behind-the-scenes endeavors, commencing my journey as a production coordinator on various commercial sets. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in my career, one that would eventually lead me to Concorde/New Horizons, where I had the privilege of contributing to nearly two dozen films directed by the illustrious Roger Corman.
Initially, I served as a lead man, overseeing the logistics and operations on set. However, my role soon evolved, and I transitioned into the position of pickup and insert director, where I was responsible for capturing a range of essential elements, including establishing shots, missed coverage, and additional scenes.
Throughout this period, I honed my skills and expertise, working tirelessly to ensure the successful completion of each project. My experience and versatility allowed me to adapt to the unique demands of each film, and I took great pride in being an integral part of the production process.
Following my departure from Concorde/New Horizons, I embarked on a new chapter in my career as a location scout and manager, collaborating with some of the most esteemed directors in the industry, including Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Michael Bay, and David Fincher, on various commercial projects.
In 1999, I ventured into filmmaking by directing a motion picture titled Andromina the Pleasure Planet, produced by Charlie Band at Surrender Films, a cinematic endeavor that showcased my creative vision and artistic prowess.
Additionally, I played a pivotal role as the visual effects director on the music video "No Shelter" for the renowned rock band Rage Against the Machine, further solidifying my reputation as a talented and versatile industry professional.
As a creative professional, I embarked on a journey as an effects director, specializing in the art of crafting commercials that captivated audiences with innovative techniques. One such method I employed was the emulation of the iconic Matrix effect, whereby I skillfully manipulated time cues by freezing and distorting them to create a mesmerizing visual experience.
However, my life took an unexpected turn with the untimely passing of my beloved brother, Jay Moloney. In the aftermath of this devastating loss, I decided to take a temporary hiatus from the entertainment industry, seeking solace and clarity. During this period, I joined E City Studios as their Business Development representative, where I had the opportunity to delve into the realm of cutting-edge technology. Specifically, I focused on the revolutionary concept of glasses-free 3D technology, expanding my knowledge and understanding of its vast potential applications.
I embarked on a new entrepreneurial venture, establishing Native Media, a pioneering 3D media network that revolutionized the way people consumed entertainment. Strategically located in high-traffic areas such as malls and theaters, the network featured cutting-edge, 50-inch plasma screens showcasing captivating, glasses-free 3D content. The innovative platform not only provided an immersive experience for audiences but also presented a lucrative opportunity for advertisers, offering a unique and coveted space to showcase their brand.
As the founder and driving force behind Native Media, I successfully built and managed the network, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and securing lucrative ad deals. Eventually, I made the decision to sell the company, realizing a significant return on investment.
Following the sale of Native Media, I returned to my roots, leveraging my extensive experience and expertise in the film and entertainment industry. I began representing properties for film shoots and events, utilizing my knowledge and connections to secure prime locations and ensure seamless production logistics.
In June 2016, I joined ICO Development, a dynamic and rapidly growing company that specializes in providing historic film properties to the film, TV, and new media industries. As a key member of the ICO team, I have been instrumental in representing the company's portfolio, helping to drive growth and expansion. My extensive network and industry expertise have proven invaluable in identifying and securing high-profile properties, further solidifying ICO's position as a leader in the industry.
