At the tender age of 12, David's creative journey began in his tiny closet, where he spent his time developing and printing images. Equipped with an 8mm movie camera, he mastered the art of in-camera effects, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for filmmaking.
As he transitioned into the industry, David's early job as a bicycle messenger proved to be a valuable stepping stone. He soon found himself working as an assistant camera on documentaries, honing his skills in the editing room as an apprentice.
David's impressive resume boasts a pioneering achievement in the music video genre, having lensed the first contemporary video to air on MTV, "You Better Run" by Pat Benatar. His extensive portfolio features over 40 music videos and numerous commercials, showcasing his versatility and expertise.
As he ventured into feature films, David had the privilege of working alongside esteemed cinematographers, including Gordon Willis, Bruce Surtees, and Dariusz Wolski. His dedication to his craft is evident in his meticulous attention to color and contour, as he strives for perfection in every frame.
Despite his proficiency with cutting-edge digital technology, David's true passion lies with traditional film. His extensive experience with large and small format film cameras is a testament to his unwavering commitment to the art of filmmaking.
Beyond his work in still and motion photography, David is also a skilled motion picture producer, director, and animator. He is fluent in both French and English, holds an FAA-certified commercial multi-engine instrument-rated airplane pilot's license, and has earned an FAA Part 107 UAS pilot certificate. When not behind the lens, David can be found indulging in his love of cooking and exploring the great outdoors.
