David Pablos is a Mexican writer and director, renowned for his captivating films, including DANCE OF THE 41, also known as EL BAILE DE LOS 41, released in 2020, and THE CHOSEN ONES, titled LAS ELEGIDAS, from 2015.
His most recent endeavor was as an episodic director for the Amazon western series, "The Head of Joaquin Murrieta," or "La Cabeza De Joaquin Murrieta."
Throughout his career, his films have collectively garnered an impressive 28 Ariel Award nominations, which are considered the Mexican equivalent of the Oscars, and have taken home 14 prestigious wins, including Best Picture, Directing, Screenwriting, and Performance.
EL BAILE DE LOS 41 premiered at the esteemed San Sebastián Film Festival and was subsequently acquired by Netflix, where it remained in the Top 10 on the platform for weeks, earning a total of thirteen nominations at the Ariel Awards, of which it won five.
Prior to this, he directed LAS ELEGIDAS, which was selected to compete at prominent film festivals such as Cannes, San Sebastián, Zurich, and Stockholm, among others. The film received a nomination for the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film and swept the Ariel Awards, winning five accolades, including Best Film, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay, and Performance.
David's debut feature, LIFE AFTER, had its world premiere at the Venice Biennale and was awarded at the Morelia International Film Festival.
David Pablos holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia University and currently resides in Mexico, where he is fluent in both English and Spanish.
