David Roy is a multifaceted creative professional, whose expertise spans multiple disciplines, including direction, writing, visual design, and editing.
His most recent project, A Placeapart, a collaborative effort with Theresa Schwartz, is currently in production.
In 2003, Roy's feature film, Mad Song, garnered significant critical acclaim, with The Los Angeles Times hailing it as "one of the most promising directorial debuts of the year". National Public Radio also praised the film, drawing favorable comparisons to the early work of renowned director Robert Altman.
The following year, Roy directed one of the five individual segments of the film Man of the Year, starring the late John Ritter.
In 2005, Roy received an Emmy Award for his photographic contribution to The Lucky Man, a documentary that tells the poignant story of one individual's courageous battle with ALS.
In addition to his work in the film industry, Roy has been a senior member of the faculty at Brooks Institute in Ventura, California since 2001, where he teaches writing and directing courses within the Film and Video Department.
