Deborah Mary "Debbi" Peterson, a talented drummer and singer, was born on August 22, 1961, in Northridge, Los Angeles, California, and spent her formative years in the San Fernando Valley.
As a high school student, Debbi established her first band, laying the foundation for her future success.
In 1981, she co-founded the iconic all-female rock group, The Bangles, alongside Susanna Hoffs, her older sister Victoria Peterson, and original bassist Annette Zilinskas.
Debbi took the lead vocals on two of The Bangles' most popular songs: "Going Down to Liverpool" and "Be With You".
After The Bangles disbanded in 1989, Debbi maintained a relatively low profile before joining the short-lived band "Smashbox", which unfortunately dissolved in late 1991.
In 1992, Debbi formed the acoustic duo "Kindred Spirit" with Siobhan Maher, whom she met in an Indian restaurant in Los Angeles in 1989.
The pair released the four-track single "Here in My Eyes" in 1992 and served as the opening act for Joan Armatrading.
In June 1995, Debbi and Maher released their full-length album "Kindred Spirit". However, the duo parted ways in 1997.
Debbi rejoined The Bangles in 1999.
Debbi Peterson has been married to English sound engineer Steve Botting since 1989, and they are the proud parents of son Brian and daughter Keira.
