Deborah, a Canadian native, was born in the vibrant city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the year 1961, and is the second youngest of a family of five siblings. From a remarkably young age, she was captivated by the enchanting world of theatre, with her first major role emerging when she was just 15 years old, as the iconic Bilbo Baggins in a summer children's theatre production of J.R.R. Tolkien's timeless and beloved classic, The Hobbit.

Deborah embarked on an academic odyssey that spanned the realms of classical acting and musical theatre, under the guidance of revered educators at George Brown College. This formative experience allowed her to hone her craft, refine her skills, and broaden her expertise, thus providing a solid foundation for her future academic endeavors.
