Deborah, a multifaceted individual, embarked on her career as a renowned dancer, choreographer, actor, writer, and director, accumulating an impressive array of accolades along the way. Her impressive resume includes an award-winning production company, Lucid Dreams Inc., with offices in Vancouver, Los Angeles, Winnipeg, and Toronto.
Deborah's production company has been busy, with a slate of projects in various stages of development, including Buried, The Way Out, La Vida Loca, My Lucky Regret, The GOD Project, based on the book by John Saul, Heaven, and the animated musical InsectIdol, which has received support from prominent Canadian entertainment companies Telefilm, MovieCentral, and Corus Entertainment.
As a writer, Deborah has penned scripts for television series and feature-length films produced in India, South Africa, and South America, and has recently completed a social allegorical modern fairy tale, Ego and Pride, which is being adapted into an animated film.
Deborah's impressive resume also includes her work on Sony's Breakout, starring Brendan Fraser, which she co-executive produced and co-authored. In addition to her numerous film and television roles, Deborah wrote, starred in, and produced her play UNVME, which garnered Critics Choice Awards, as well as awards for Best Writer, Best Actor, and Best Production. The Los Angeles Times praised her satirical writing, likening it to that of the legendary Woody Allen.
Lucid Dreams Inc. is currently producing the theatrical teen thriller Night Wings, which Deborah co-authored. The company is responsible for securing financing, both equity and debt, and providing P&A for all of its slate of products. Deborah oversees all business transactions and has recently established a film fund in Asia, with a pipeline of projects to be produced as Canadian-Chinese co-productions.
Notably, the Honorable John Reynolds, PC, of Canada, has recently joined Lucid Dreams' board of advisors. Panda Girls and Ego and Pride are currently in development and will be Canadian-Chinese co-productions.
