Dee Mosbacher, MD, PhD, is a multifaceted individual who has made significant contributions in the fields of psychiatry, filmmaking, and social justice activism.
As a psychiatrist, Dee has dedicated her career to the treatment of patients with severe mental illness. Her extensive experience has equipped her with a deep understanding of the complexities of mental health, allowing her to provide exceptional care to her patients. Her professional background includes serving as the Medical Director for Mental Health in San Mateo County and Senior Psychiatrist at San Francisco's Progress Foundation. Additionally, Dee has held the position of board member at California Pacific Medical Center and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
Dee's journey as a social justice activist began in 1992, when she was motivated to take action following an experience of gay-bashing at the Republican National Convention. This pivotal moment inspired her to establish Woman Vision, a non-profit organization focused on promoting equal treatment of all individuals through the use of educational media. Throughout her career, Dee has directed or produced nine documentaries, including the Academy Award-nominated film Straight from the Heart.
