A renowned individual, Barton, hails from the vibrant city of Sydney, where she took her first breaths in the year 1972. Her academic journey commenced at the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales, Sydney, and she went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1993.
Fast forward to 2015, Barton's talents were recognized with an Australian Film, Television and Radio School Creative Fellowship, following her impressive directorial debut of The Nightingale and the Rose. Her remarkable work has been collected by esteemed institutions, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; the Queensland Art Gallery / Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane; the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide; and the Museum of Old and New Art, Hobart.
