Lady Dee, whose full name is Delores Harris, began her singing career at a tender age of 4 in the church choir. She started performing professionally at 15, accompanied by her father and cousin, both of whom are now deceased, at venues where she was not yet of legal age to enter alone.
As a member of the group Everlife, Lady Dee was signed to and recorded on the now-defunct 20th Century Fox record label. She went on to perform and tour with other bands and as a solo artist. Lady Dee also had a successful career in education, serving as an elementary and middle school principal for many years, where she was known as Dr. Harris. She would often sing for her students and bring in international, national, and local recording artists, actors, and actresses to perform and motivate them.
In addition to her recent performances at Detroit Pistons and Detroit Tigers events, Lady Dee has performed at various venues, including TV dance shows, luxury hotels and nightclubs, Cobo Hall, Hart Plaza Summer Festivals, North America International Auto Show, Music Hall, Jazz Café, Bert's Market place, Casinos-MGM, Greektown, and Motor City. She has also traveled to perform in numerous cities across the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. During her time as an entertainer, Lady Dee has formed friendships with notable figures such as Stevie Wonder, The Calloways, members of Midnight Star, and songwriters and producers.
Lady Dee is a well-rounded entertainer who also pursues acting as a career. She has acted in several stage plays, internet TV shows, and films, and has even participated in workshops held by Robin Givens and Hollywood Stuntwoman Kathy Jarvis. However, her true passion remains her vocal gift, which she uses to deliver heartfelt performances that resonate with audiences.
In August 2012, Lady Dee was nominated for the Detroit Black Music Awards' Best Female R&B Vocalist of the Year. Her CD single release, "My Funny Valentine," is a cover of a standard that showcases her sultry vocal style and storytelling ability. The single, as well as her upcoming CD, is a project that has been years in the making.
