Person Biography:
Demi Singleton was born on February 27, 2007, in New Orleans, Louisiana. At the tender age of three, she relocated to New York City, where she began training in music, dance, and acting under the guidance of renowned teachers. With a strong foundation in classical ballet, she started playing the cello at four years old and continued her studies at a rigorous music conservatory in Brooklyn for six years.
As a child prodigy, Demi's passion for the performing arts grew, and she made her Broadway debut at nine years old in a musical featuring child performers. This experience sparked her desire to pursue a career as a stage performer. She went on to join the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "School of Rock-The Musical" on Broadway for nearly a year before landing the role of Young Nala in Disney's "The Lion King" on Broadway.
Before leaving "The Lion King," Demi joined the cast of "Godfather of Harlem," led by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker, as his character's granddaughter, Margaret Johnson. Her impressive resume continued to grow with her recent casting as Serena Williams in the Will Smith-led Warner Bros. biopic "King Richard," which tells the story of how tennis superstars Serena and Venus Williams rose to success under the guidance of their father, Richard Williams.
Outside of her acting career, Demi enjoys listening to a variety of music genres, including pop, jazz, and hip-hop. She is an avid traveler, fascinated by different cultures and languages. Demi is currently studying Mandarin, learning Spanish, and hopes to learn many more languages in the future. Her family roots stem from Honduras and Dominica, and she aspires to become a philanthropist, dedicating her efforts to alleviating world hunger, poverty, and childhood education in the arts.
