Denise Moreno is a multi-talented Spanish-American director, actor, and writer who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. With a passion for filmmaking, she has transitioned from acting to writing and directing, and her short film "Sisters" won numerous awards at Premios Latino 2018, including best film, best actress, and best script.
Born in Madrid, Spain, to a renowned Spanish classical music producer and an American translator, Denise grew up feeling equally comfortable in both European and North American cultures. She considers both Spanish and English to be her first languages, and her unique cultural background has undoubtedly influenced her work.
As a child, Denise discovered her passion for acting and began attending acting classes at the age of 12. She was soon discovered by the top modeling agency in Spain, Traffic, and quickly signed by other international agencies, including Ford in NYC and Storm in London. She went on to appear in numerous international fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Glamour, Marie Claire, and Jalouse.
In 2005, Denise was offered a contract by Dior for their Spring/Summer 2006 cosmetics campaign, marking her entry into the world of modeling. She continued to model under the name Denise Sommers and appeared in various campaigns and editorials.
Denise's first break in the film industry came through a role in Manolete (2008),starring Oscar-nominated Penelope Cruz and Oscar-winning Adrien Brody. The intimate scene with the two award-winning actors served as Denise's entry into the world of celluloid.
Denise holds a degree in Acting from ESAD (Academy of Dramatic Arts) in Madrid and a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from Trinity College Dublin. Bilingual in English and Spanish and fluent in French, she has worked in international films and on stage in Spain, France, UK, Ireland, and the U.S.
In 2012, Denise made her debut on the London stage at Riverside Studios, performing in The Oresteia (2012) by Aeschylus, directed by Anastasia Revi (TheatreLab Company). Revi went on to direct Denise in the lead role of Salome in Oscar Wilde's "Salome," receiving outstanding reviews for Denise's work and that of TheatreLab.
