Biography

Deniz Akçay Katıksız, a multifaceted creative force, was born in 1978 in Izmir, Turkey. With a strong educational foundation, she graduated from Ege University's Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema in 2004.

Her journey in the entertainment industry began in 2000 when she crossed paths with Birol Güven and joined the sector as a screenwriter for the television series Kahkaha Show. This early exposure to the industry laid the groundwork for her future success.

In 2006, Deniz Akçay further honed her skills by taking director and editing lessons at the prestigious New York Film Academy. This training would serve her well in her future projects.

Since 2016, Deniz Akçay has collaborated with her sister Armağan Gülşahin, co-founding the Teşriki Mesai script group with her friends. This partnership has yielded numerous creative endeavors.

However, it was her 2013 film, Köksüz (Nobody's Home),that truly catapulted her to industry prominence. This critically acclaimed film, which she wrote, directed, and produced, earned her numerous accolades, including the Seyfi Teoman Best First Film Award at the 32nd Istanbul Film Festival, the Yılmaz Güney Award at the International 20th Golden Boll Film Festival, and the Best Screenplay award at the 47th Siyad Turkish Cinema Awards in 2015.

These achievements solidified Deniz Akçay's position as a talented and versatile screenwriter, director, and producer in the Turkish film industry.
