Dianne Doan is a multifaceted Canadian actress born on September 8, 1990, in the charming city of Abbotsford, British Columbia. Her parents hail from Vietnam, and her grandmother is of half-Chinese descent, making Doan one-eighth Chinese.
Doan's fascination with acting began in the 9th grade when she took drama classes as an elective. This sparked a passion that would lead her to pursue a career in the performing arts. She further honed her skills through technical training in dance, which started in the 10th grade. Her impressive dance credentials include performing as a dancer at the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremony, serving as a back-up dancer for the renowned Michael Bublé, and working on music videos for notable artists such as Big Time Rush, Marianas Trench, and even appearing on the popular TV show So You Think You Can Dance.
Before landing her breakout role, Doan made small appearances on several TV shows, including ABC's Once Upon a Time and TV Land's Impastor. However, her big break came when she was cast as Lonnie, the daughter of Mulan and Shang, in the Disney Channel TV film Descendants. This role expanded into a successful franchise, encompassing a prequel live-action mini-series, a sequel, and an animated spin-off.
In 2016, Doan was cast in the History Channel's Vikings as Yidu, followed by a major role in Verizon's (go90) and Awesomeness TV's web-series Guidance, where she played twin sisters.
In 2017, Doan joined the cast of Cinemax's Warrior, a series produced by the acclaimed filmmaker Justin Lin and based on an original concept by the late Bruce Lee, where she portrayed the pivotal character Mai Ling.
