Dick Dale, renowned as the "King of Surf Guitar," revolutionized the surf rock sound in the 1950s. A passionate surfer and accomplished musician, Dale and his band, "Dick Dale and the Del-Tones," made appearances in several popular "Beach Party" teen films starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon during the 1960s.
Although interest in surf rock declined in the 1970s, Dale experienced a successful comeback in the 1990s, largely due to Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994),which featured Dale's 1962 hit "Misirlou." Among his numerous awards and honors, Dale was inducted into the Hollywood Rock Walk of Fame in 1996 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from "L.A. Weekly" in June 2000, recognizing his significant contribution to music.
Despite his busy touring schedule, which takes him throughout the US and worldwide, Dale prioritizes spending time with his nine-year-old son, Jimmy, on their 80-acre family ranch in Twentynine Palms, California.
