Richard Andrew Gephardt, born January 31, 1941, is a renowned American attorney, lobbyist, and politician who served as the United States Representative for Missouri's 3rd congressional district from 1977 to 2005. A stalwart member of the Democratic Party, he held the esteemed positions of House majority leader from 1989 to 1995 and minority leader from 1995 to 2003.
