Dimitra Arliss embarked on an illustrious acting career, commencing at the prestigious Goodman Theatre in Chicago, where she initially garnered widespread attention with a standout performance in Arthur Kopit's Broadway play "Indians". Her portrayal of a Native American character, speaking with a unique Italian accent, left a lasting impression on audiences.
As her stage career continued to flourish, Arliss began to transition into television and film productions, appearing in a diverse range of projects, including the critically acclaimed "The Sting" (1973),the iconic musical fantasy film "Xanadu" (1980),the action-packed thriller "Firefox" (1982),and the heartwarming drama "It's My Party" (1996).
However, it was her chilling performance as Dahnya in the 2000 horror film "Bless the Child" that cemented her legacy among horror fans. Unfortunately, this would prove to be her final film appearance, as Arliss passed away at the age of 79 due to complications from a stroke at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Hospital in Woodland Hills, California.
