Dominic was born in West Yorkshire, spending his early years in the picturesque town of Haworth, nestled amidst the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire moors, a region famously immortalized in the works of the Brontë sisters. His father hailed from Scotland, while his mother was a native of Yorkshire, a union that would shape his unique cultural heritage.
As a young boy, Dominic relocated to the south of England, where he began his journey in the performing arts by attending the prestigious Jackie Palmer Stage School, alongside a fellow student who would later achieve great success in the entertainment industry, James Corden. Dominic's first major break arrived at the tender age of 14, when he landed a leading role in the theatre production "Killing the Cat" at the Royal Court Theatre-Upstairs, opposite the acclaimed actor Sean Bean, under the direction of Sue Dunderdale, Head of Directing at RADA.
Subsequently, Dominic enrolled at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts Drama School in London, where he honed his craft and discovered a natural aptitude for stage combat, which would later become a key aspect of his career. During his time at the Academy, he won the Equity Fight Challenge for the best stage combat scene, a testament to his dedication and talent.
After completing his studies, Dominic began his professional journey with a part at the renowned Royal National Theatre, where he had the opportunity to work alongside the esteemed Sir Ian McKellen in the production "Enemy of the People," directed by the illustrious Sir Trevor Nunn.
Throughout his career, Dominic has established himself as a versatile character actor, frequently taking on roles that involve action, whether as a victim or aggressor. His breakthrough leading roles include "Autistic Frank" in the film "Kin," directed by Brian Welsh, and "Supertramp," a film directed by Philippe Leone. For his portrayal of "Supertramp," Dominic received a nomination for Best Male Action Performer of the Year at the Action on Film Awards USA in 2010.
