His directorial debut, Jian Bing Man (2015),catapulted him to widespread recognition, earning a significant commercial success in China with a box office gross of 1.16 billion RMB ($160 million).
Fast forward to 2023, his film Johnny Keep Walking grossed an impressive 1.29 billion RMB ($179 million) at the Chinese box office, setting a new box office record for his starring movies.
