Dora Romano, a multifaceted and accomplished actress, was born in the picturesque surroundings near Naples, Italy, and went on to acquire a degree in sociology in 1979. Subsequently, she decided to follow her heart and pursue a career in acting, which led her to earn a degree from the prestigious Bottega Teatrale di Firenze, Vittorio Gassman's renowned Acting School, in 1980. This marked the inception of her illustrious journey in the world of theatre, where she would later have the privilege of training under the guidance of some of the most esteemed professionals in the industry, including the highly respected Jerzy Grotowski, Elizabeth Kemp, Dominic De Fazio, and Ivana Chubbuck, both in Italy and the United States.
Noted Italian actress, Romano, began her professional career under the guidance of renowned director Otomar Krejča, taking on the role of "The Suppliants" by Eschilo at the prestigious Syracuse Greek Theatre. This marked the starting point of her journey, soon followed by a two-year association with the esteemed company of Eduardo de Filippo.
It was the year 1991 that brought Romano the extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with the renowned film director Ermanno Olmi, where she had the distinguished honor of portraying the character of Mrs. Gibbs in a stage adaptation of Thornton Wilder's classic play, "Our Town".
Throughout her illustrious career, Romano has demonstrated her remarkable range and versatility by taking on an array of diverse roles, including numerous productions of the esteemed works of William Shakespeare.
Notable among Romano's extensive credits is her portrayal of Martha in a stage adaptation of W. Goethe's iconic play "Doctor Faust", skillfully directed by the renowned Glauco Mauri. She also brought to life the character of Mrs. Sarti in B.Brecht's critically acclaimed drama "Galileo's Life".
Beyond her remarkable acting abilities, Romano has also demonstrated her impressive vocal talents by performing in a wide range of musicals. These include the poignant solo piece "Cuore Ingrato", as well as notable productions such as "She Loves Me" in 2000, "Gianburrasca" in 2004, "Sister Act" in 2011, "Titanic" in 2012, "Il Marchese del Grillo" (The Marquess of Cricket),and "Mary Poppins".
