Kent Hovind's life took a significant turn at the impressionable age of sixteen, as he embraced Christianity, which instilled within him a profound sense of direction and a strong desire to dedicate his existence to serving the Lord. This pivotal moment in his adolescence was swiftly followed by a natural affinity for mathematics and science, which became evident during his high school years. This innate talent and aptitude for the scientific disciplines subsequently propelled him to enroll at Illinois Central College, where he embarked on a rigorous academic journey, majoring in science.
After the successful completion of two entire years of undergraduate academic pursuits, Hovind began to sense an profound inner stirring, urging him to redirect his focus towards a life of dedicated full-time Christian service. In response to this divine prompting, he decided to relocate to Midwestern Baptist College, situated in Pontiac, Michigan, where he went on to earn a Bachelor of Religious Education degree in the year 1974.
For the next fifteen years, Hovind devoted himself to a dual career, simultaneously teaching high school math and science courses, while concurrently pursuing a Master's degree in education.
During this period, he dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to researching and writing a doctoral dissertation on a topic that would have a profound impact on his future endeavors. The subject of his dissertation was the age-old debate between creation and evolution.
As he delved deeper into his research, Hovind became increasingly convinced that there was a profound need to expose the flaws and shortcomings of the theory of evolution, which he believed was not only scientifically unsound but also a religious worldview in disguise.
Furthermore, he recognized that many Christians were unaware of the scientific evidence that supported the harmony between true science and the Bible. It was his desire to equip these Christians with the knowledge and understanding they needed to confidently defend their faith against the criticisms of evolutionists.
Hovind's dissertation, therefore, aimed to provide a comprehensive and scientific examination of the creation vs. evolution debate, with the ultimate goal of empowering Christians to confidently assert their faith in the face of scientific skepticism.
As Hovind concluded his Ph.D. in religious education, he embarked on a profound and far-reaching ministry, dedicating himself to elucidating the fundamental and intrinsic truth of creation, while simultaneously debunking the flawed and inaccurate tenets of evolution. His noble mission was twofold: firstly, to fortify and strengthen the faith of believers, providing them with a deeper understanding and unwavering conviction in the biblical account of creation; and secondly, to guide and lead those who were lost and wandering, bringing them closer to the redemptive power and love of Christ.
This ambitious and multifaceted endeavor has been met with remarkable success, as his acclaimed seven-part Creation Seminar has traveled the globe, spreading its message of truth and hope to people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Notably, this seminal work has been translated into a staggering thirty-two languages, a testament to its profound impact and far-reaching influence.
