Drew Goddard's early life unfolded in the picturesque town of Los Alamos, New Mexico, where he spent his formative years. He attended Los Alamos High School, graduating in 1993, and subsequently enrolled at the University of Colorado, where he pursued his academic endeavors.
Following his graduation, Drew ventured to Los Angeles, where he secured a position as a production assistant. His diligence and dedication eventually paid off when a spec script he wrote, inspired by the critically acclaimed television series "Six Feet Under," caught the attention of prominent industry professionals.
Marti Noxon, a key figure in the production of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," was the first to take notice of Drew's work, and she promptly extended an offer to join the team. However, Joss Whedon, the creator of "Buffy," ultimately determined that Drew would be an excellent addition to the show's writing staff. Drew's impressive writing skills and creative vision made him a valuable asset to the team, and he went on to write five episodes during his tenure on "Buffy," which spanned from 2002 to 2003.
Once his stint on "Buffy" came to a close, Drew transitioned to "Angel," where he served as the executive story editor for Season 5. During this period, he penned four episodes, further solidifying his reputation as a talented and prolific writer.
In addition to his work on television, Drew also found time to contribute to various literary projects. He wrote the introduction for the book "Seven Seasons of Buffy," a collection of essays that explored the cultural significance of the popular television series.
