Biography

Dror Soref is a renowned Hollywood director and social reformer who has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry. He began his career by directing music videos for the popular rock parodist "Weird Al" Yankovic, which helped establish the artist as a major star.

Soref's success in music videos led him to direct the short film Platinum Blonde, which was nominated for the Gold Hugo Award. This achievement caught the attention of Paramount Studio's President, who retained Soref under contract to develop projects at Paramount.

Soref's feature directorial debut, The Seventh Coin, starring Peter O'Toole, won several festival awards, including Best Picture. He went on to found Orbit Productions, a company that focused on TV commercials and worked with top clients such as Ford, Coca Cola, and Toyota.

As the creative and marketing chief of Orbit, Soref collaborated with the marketing divisions of major companies and developed marketing strategies and advertising campaigns for many of these brands. He also oversaw the execution of all TV commercials produced at the company and specialized in copywriting and visualization.

Soref's success in commercials led him to transition into feature films and network television. He signed a multiple-picture deal with Phoenix Pictures and co-produced the film Basic, starring John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson. He also wrote and directed the critically acclaimed thriller Not Forgotten, which was nominated for the Saturn Award.

In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Soref has been involved in various social and humanitarian causes. He has worked with non-profit organizations such as the Aleph Institute, Equal Justice Under the Law, and the Greater Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.

Soref received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Haifa, graduating with Honors. He was also a combat officer in the Israeli Defense Force and served in the elite Golani Brigade. He later studied film production at the Cinema Arts School of the University of Southern California (USC) and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree.
