Person Biography:
João Duarte graduated as an actor from Act School in 2007 and made his debut in the Theatre a year later with the play "My Sweet Orange Tree". Since then, he has actively worked in numerous TV, Theatre, and Cinema projects.
In Television, Duarte has worked on various projects, including "Vingança" (SIC),"Morangos com Açúcar" (TVI),"Mulheres" (TVI),and most recently, "Miúdo Graúdo" (RTP1),where he not only played an actor's role but also took on the additional responsibility of directing actors. In 2018, he joined the cast of two new TV series for RTP1, "Idiotas" and "Sul".
In Theatre, Duarte has performed in several plays, including "Happy Birthday", "As Obras Completas de William Shakespeare em 97 minutos", "Zorro", and "Lúcia Afogada". In 2015, he joined the cast of Companhia Chapitô with the play "Macbeth", which has been performed all over the world in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and has won numerous awards.
In the cinematic universe, Duarte has received several nominations and awards, including the short film "Boy", in which he played the lead role. He has also appeared in several feature films, such as "A Bela e o Paparazzo", "Os Gatos Não têm Vertigens", "Quarta Divisão", "Fado" (Germany),and "Al Berto". Additionally, he is part of the cast of "Parque Mayer" and "Carga", which are set to premiere in 2018.
Notably, Duarte was nominated by the Portuguese Academy of Cinema as Best Supporting Actor for his role, Zé, in the movie "Al Berto".
