Dušan Rapoš, a multifaceted individual, was born on June 20, 1953, in Moravany, Slovakia. He is a director, screenwriter, and composer, known by his artistic pseudonym Sui Generis or SG. Rapoš is the husband of the talented actress Eva Vejmělková and the son of the renowned Slovak publicist Vladimír Rapoš, with his grandfather Miloš Rapoš being a notable European architect and builder.
Rapoš pursued his education at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava, graduating from the Department of Journalism in 1975. He further honed his skills at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, earning a degree in film directing in 1982. During his studies, he gained experience as a journalist and radio editor, working for Good Morning.
After completing his education, Rapoš dedicated himself to creating weekly magazines and news films. He also ventured into theatrical production, composing music, and lyricism. In 1992, he founded the production company Welcome Film, which enabled him to participate in the production of the Slovak Big Beat series.
Rapoš has been married twice, with his first marriage producing daughters Katarína and Dušana. He has two more daughters, Tara and Rita, with his current wife, Eva Vejmělková. The family resides in Havířov.
In 2008, Rapoš received the prestigious Crystal Wing award, shared with Ľuboš Jurík and Jozef Šuhajd, for their extensive book, Slovak Big Beat. The book is a comprehensive 10-part television series, accompanied by three DVDs, and explores the fertile 1960s through rock and beat music, as well as the opinions, ideals, and hopes of the young generation during that era. The book is also a documentary about the decade, which is widely regarded as one of the most exciting periods of the last century.
