Dwight Hunter Marfield was a renowned New York-based theatre, film, and television actor, celebrated for his exceptional character acting, comedic talent, and artistic prowess. His multifaceted skills extended to musical abilities, pantomime, and dance, which he showcased in notable performances such as Lotte Goslar's show "For Humans Only" in Southern California and the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival in Lee, Massachusetts.

On screen, Marfield made notable appearances as Dr. Greenbow in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Trouble With Harry," the soapbox orator in "Studs Lonigan," and Ellsworth in "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest." He also graced television screens twice on the Garry Moore Show, as himself, playing the Ukulele, The Jackie Gleason Show, and as Mark Twain on the Bell Telephone spectacular "Sounds Of America."

His Broadway credits include "The Day Before Spring" (1965),"Galileo," "The Ponder Heart," "Lesson," "The Flower Drum Song," and the Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Look Homeward Angel."

Marfield's passion for theatre extended to directing and choreographing projects, and he performed in summer stock plays, maintaining a long-running association with the NY-based La Mama Experimental Theatre Club. He also worked with the Actors Playhouse and directed the one-man play "Dwight Night," which he wrote, acted, directed, and produced to great acclaim in 1978.

Throughout his career, Marfield appeared in numerous stage productions, including "Hot L Baltimore," "Blind Alley," "Take My Advice," "Stardust," "The Playboy Of The Newark," "The Private Life Of The Master Race," "Private Lives," "Horace," "Bittersweet," and "70-Girls-70." Sadly, Dwight Hunter Marfield passed away in New York due to complications from his battle with cancer, leaving behind his sister, family, and friends.
