Biography

Dylan Coburn is a multifaceted creative professional, boasting a career spanning over two decades, characterized by a diverse array of roles, including Storyboard Artist, Writer, and Director, each one showcasing his exceptional skillset and versatility.

His remarkable journey began in 1995, when he embarked on a thrilling adventure, drawing for Disney TV animation, a pioneering endeavor that served as the springboard for his future creative pursuits. This early experience not only honed his artistic abilities but also laid the foundation for his future endeavors, setting the stage for a career replete with excitement, challenge, and growth.

In the year 2002, Coburn embarked on a pioneering entrepreneurial venture, founding Karactaz Animation, a pioneering studio that would go on to assemble a talented pool of animators and technicians for the production of both 2D and 3D animation. Over the course of nearly a decade, Karactaz Animation demonstrated impressive staying power, producing an astonishing 500 commercials, as well as a diverse range of long-form projects for a plethora of prominent clients, including Disney, Marvel Animation, Warner Bros, DC Comics, MTV, and many others. This remarkable period of growth and success came to a close in 2015, after which Coburn continued to refine his skills by collaborating with some of the most esteemed Directors and Cinematographers in the industry, thus further solidifying his reputation as a master of his craft.

Coburn's professional trajectory has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, as he has eagerly taken on novel challenges and responsibilities that have further solidified his position within the industry. As a Supervising Storyboard Artist, he has been instrumental in the preparation and production of numerous high-profile projects, including the inaugural season of Amazon's "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power".

In this capacity, Coburn was entrusted with the creation of original designs for visual effects, wherein he was required to meticulously craft digital doubles and integrate them into shot plates, serving as guides for vendors. Furthermore, he was tasked with crafting detailed artwork over full-resolution plates, which would be utilized directly in the creation of digital effects. Additionally, Coburn was responsible for rendering animated storyboards, thereby enabling showrunners and producers to rapidly visualize and seamlessly integrate intricate VFX concepts into the working edit.

Notable for his impressive contributions to the acclaimed television series "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," Coburn has concurrently garnered widespread recognition for his own distinctive cinematic endeavors.
