Biography

Dylan Mohan Gray is a renowned filmmaker of Indian and Canadian descent, celebrated for his groundbreaking documentary feature film, Fire in the Blood. The film premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and went on to have the longest theatrical run of any non-fiction film in Indian cinema history, spanning five weeks.

Fire in the Blood was an official selection at over 100 leading film festivals on six continents, garnering major awards and accolades worldwide. The film's impact was immense, changing the global conversation around access to essential medicine. In November 2018, it was included by legendary Australian journalist and documentary filmmaker John Pilger among his selection of "26 landmark documentary films of the past seven decades".

Critics have praised Dylan's filmmaking, stating that he has made cinematic provocation a signature of his work. His images are described as exquisite and unsparing, with artful frames that refuse to avert the viewer's gaze. Throughout his career, Dylan has worked in close collaboration with renowned directors, including Fatih Akin, Peter Greenaway, Paul Greengrass, Deepa Mehta, and Mira Nair, on feature films in over two dozen countries worldwide.

Dylan has been profiled by numerous leading media outlets, including the BBC, The Guardian, The Times of India, Filmmaker Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal. His film, From Durban to Tomorrow, was selected for the 2020 Mumbai International Film Festival, exploring the future of global health and human rights. He has also co-written the narrative feature script, The Last Day of Winter, with Vikramaditya Motwane, which was incubated at the Sundance Institute / Mumbai Mantra Screenwriting Lab.

In 2017, Dylan was appointed Visiting Professor of History at the Central European University in Budapest, where he had earlier completed his MA. He was also chosen from over 13,000 graduates for the CEU's inaugural Alumni Impact Award in 2016. Dylan has recently directed the premiere episode for the critically-acclaimed Netflix anthology series Bad Boy Billionaires, focusing on Vijay Mallya. He is currently developing several feature film and series concepts.
