Ed Burns, a renowned American novelist, writer, and producer, was born in the vibrant city of Baltimore, Maryland. His early years were marked by a sense of wildness, which ultimately led his parents to relocate him and his brother Michael to the suburbs, in the hopes of providing a more stable environment. As a boy, Ed attended Catholic schools, where he received a solid education, and later graduated from Loyola College in Baltimore. Prior to his successful career in the entertainment industry, Ed spent 20 years serving as a Baltimore City detective, a profession that not only honed his skills of observation and storytelling but also introduced him to a fellow writer, police reporter David Simon. The two would go on to collaborate on several notable projects, including the critically acclaimed television series "The Corner" (2000),"The Wire" (2002),and "Generation Kill" (2008).
