Edgar Ruben Bagayawa, a multifaceted individual, was born to Filipino immigrants, Ruben and Thelma, who made a remarkable journey to Canada with merely $50 in their pockets. He is the eldest of four siblings, with three younger sisters, Karen, Kimberly, and Stephanie.
Growing up in the small town of Hespeler, Ontario, Edgar made his acting debut in his elementary school's production of Alice in Wonderland, taking on the role of a singing pigeon. He continued his education at Galt Collegiate, where he developed a strong foundation for his future endeavors.
Despite his parents' insistence, Edgar initially struggled to find his career path. However, he eventually pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Brock University. During his summer breaks, he worked for the City of Cambridge Parks and Recreation department, where he was assigned to collect garbage on Fridays.
After graduating, Edgar took a job at a large Fortune 500 IT firm, where he excelled as a Business Development Manager. Within a remarkably short period of less than three months, he became the third-highest grossing salesperson among over one hundred colleagues. During this time, he resided in Toronto's entertainment district at Queen and Spadina, where he honed his improv skills at Second City.
After four years in the corporate world, Edgar took a leave of absence to travel to Australia, where he planned to write about his experiences. Before departing, he attended the renowned Robert McKee screenwriting seminar, which further fueled his creative aspirations.
Upon his return, Edgar relocated to Europe, where he was offered the position of Strategic Account Executive. Over the next decade, he traveled extensively, visiting over twenty countries, including Iceland, Argentina, Zimbabwe, and Japan. He also attended part-time classes at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
In 2009, Edgar became a naturalized British citizen, which marked a significant turning point in his life. He left the corporate world behind and enrolled in UCLA's Postgraduate Professional Screenwriting and Producing programs. He also studied acting at the prestigious Ivana Chubbuck Studio in Los Angeles.
Edgar is currently engaged to his long-term partner, Zuzana Neumannova, a pediatric nurse, whom he proposed to in 2010 on the iconic Eiffel Tower.
