Eddie Guerrero's illustrious career in professional wrestling began in 1989, but it was his achievements in the now-defunct ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) that catapulted him to fame. In ECW, Guerrero won the ECW Television Title against Dean Simon, also known as Dean Malenko. Shortly after, he made a name for himself in WCW (World Championship Wrestling) by defeating Chris Jericho to win the Cruiserweight Championship.
Guerrero's success in WCW led him to form the Latino World Order, a stable that included popular Latino wrestlers such as Rey Mysterio, Jr., La Parka, Psychosis, and Juventud Guerrera. The stable was a response to Hulk Hogan's New World Order, with Guerrero playing the role of a rival faction leader.
When Guerrero joined the WWE, he initially played the role of a heel, forming a stable called the Radicalz with Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, and Chris Benoit. Over time, he shifted his focus to tag team wrestling, partnering with his nephew Chavo, Jr. to form Los Guerreros. The duo won the WWE Tag Team titles on Smackdown! against Team Angle.
Guerrero's greatest achievement came when he won the WWE Championship at No Way Out in 2004, defeating Brock Lesnar. However, he lost the title to John "Bradshaw" Layfield just four months later at the Great American Bash.
Tragically, Guerrero's life was cut short when he was found dead by his nephew, Chavo Jr., on a Sunday morning in November 2005. The cause of his death was likely related to his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, which had plagued him throughout his life.
Eddie Guerrero's legacy in the world of professional wrestling is still celebrated today, with many fans and wrestlers regarding him as one of the greatest of all time.
