Biography

Edgar Saba, a Peruvian national, was born on May 21, 1952, in Lima, Peru. He later acquired Spanish nationality in May 1982. Saba's educational background began at the prestigious Jesuit school in Peru, where he completed his school studies. In 1969, he enrolled at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, pursuing a multidisciplinary course of study that included Humanities, specializing in Linguistics and Literature, Performing Arts, and Law. His academic endeavors were marked by a notable achievement in 1976, when he received a four-year scholarship from the British Council of England to attend the renowned Drama Center London. At the Drama Center, Saba graduated as a Stage Director and Playwright, and during his final year, he penned the film script "Land of Foxes," which was produced by the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Following his time in London, Saba relocated to Paris, where he began a new chapter in his life. It was during this period that he met his future wife, Elishabeth de Muinck, a Dutch actress known professionally as Els Vandel. The couple would go on to marry and have two children: Adrián Saba, a filmmaker, screenwriter, and director; and Nuria Saba, a composer and singer-songwriter. Throughout his career, Saba stood out as the founder and director of the Lima International Film Festival for an impressive twenty years.
