Here is the biography of Albert Edward Coxen:
Albert Edward Coxen was born on August 8, 1880, in Southwark, London, England, to Joseph Coxen and Sarah Jane Coxen (née Parfitt). His family moved to San Francisco, California, in 1882, where his uncle John and his wife Ellen had settled. The Coxen brothers established a wood and photo engraving business, and the family lived together at 1612 Jones Street.
Albert Edward, known as Bertie, grew up in California and returned to London with his parents in 1896 to care for his dying aunt. He then returned to the United States in 1897, settling in California and becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1900.
Coxen attended the University of California, Berkeley, and after graduating, he began a commercial career, working for his father and uncle at Coxen Bros. He later became an actor, making his debut on stage at the Majestic Theatre in San Francisco in 1906.
The San Francisco earthquake and fires of 1906 led the Coxen family to move to Los Angeles, where Coxen continued his acting career. He appeared in various stage plays and eventually began working in the film industry, joining the American Film Manufacturing Company's Studios in Santa Barbara in 1912.
Coxen became a popular film star, known for his roles in westerns and melodramas. He worked with various actresses, including Winifred Greenwood, and appeared in over 150 films. He married Edith Borella, a film actress, in 1914, and the couple had no children.
As Coxen entered his 40s, he began to work less frequently, often taking on supporting roles or appearing as a dress extra. He continued to work in the film industry until the 1940s, and later lived in his parents' former home in Los Angeles.
Coxen died on November 21, 1954, at the age of 74, and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
