Edward Saxon, a renowned Oscar-winning producer, graduated from the USC Peter Stark Producing Program and currently serves as the endowed Chair of the program and a tenured professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he received his undergraduate degree from McGill University.
With an impressive filmography, Saxon produced THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, which swept the Academy Awards, winning five Oscars, including Best Picture, and has since produced numerous films, garnering over 20 Academy Award nominations and eight wins. His notable credits include PHILADELPHIA, ADAPTATION, and MANDELA: SON OF AFRICA, FATHER OF A NATION, working with esteemed stars such as Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Charlize Theron, Nicolas Cage, Oprah Winfrey, Ethan Hawke, Michelle Pfeiffer, and John Krasinski.
Recent projects include producing RAY DONOVAN, the Emmy Award-winning Showtime series, and ENLIGHTENED, the acclaimed HBO comedy series, as well as AWAY WE GO at Focus Features and OUR FAMILY WEDDING at Fox Searchlight, starring Forest Whitaker and America Ferrera. Saxon has multiple television projects in development at various streamers.
His extensive filmography also includes Tom Hanks' directorial debut, THAT THING YOU DO, ULEE'S GOLD, DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS, BELOVED, FAST FOOD NATION, SOMETHING WILD, and MIAMI BLUES.
As a respected industry figure, Saxon has been a founding Advisory Board member of the Independent Film Channel, a mentor for the Sundance Institute, Producer's Guild, and McGill University, and is a member of the Advisory Board of The Center for Body Computing at USC. He is a frequent speaker on the importance of storytelling in business, healthcare, and financial services.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Saxon has extensive experience working in Haiti, both as a documentary filmmaker and activist. He is married to the artist Kirsten Coyne, with whom he has two daughters, and resides in Los Angeles.
