Eleanor Worthington-Cox is a talented English actress hailing from Formby, Merseyside, who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry at a remarkably young age. Her breakout role was as Matilda Wormwood in the West End production of 'Matilda the Musical', a performance that earned her a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical at just 10 years old, making her the youngest recipient of this prestigious award.
Prior to her stint in 'Matilda', Eleanor appeared in the chorus of a Bill Kenwright production of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool. Her subsequent roles have been just as impressive, including a part in the 2014 film 'Maleficent', where she played Young Princess Aurora, and a stage production of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in London, in which she played Scout.
From 2015 to 2016, Eleanor starred as Polly Renfrew in the children's period drama 'Hetty Feather', which was based on the book by award-winning novelist Dame Jacqueline Wilson. Her outstanding performance did not go unnoticed, as she was featured as one of Screen International's 'Stars of Tomorrow' in 2016, a showcase highlighting outstanding young acting talent from the UK and Ireland.
In addition to her screen work, Eleanor has also received critical acclaim for her performances in television. She received a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in the Sky One mini-series 'The Enfield Haunting' (2015),and went on to star as Cait in the historical fantasy drama series 'Britannia' (2017). In 2018, she landed the title role in the British period horror film 'Gwen', written by William McGregor. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Eleanor won the Rising Star award.
