Elle Downs is a proud individual of African Canadian and Native American (Cherokee Indian) heritage, tracing her roots back to her sixth generation Canadian ancestry. Her father, born in Kingston, Jamaica, adds a unique cultural dimension to her upbringing. Born as an only child in Toronto, Elle was fortunate to be raised by her great grandmother and great aunt, Louise and Clara Little (Bell),who played a significant role in shaping her early years.
From a tender age of four, Elle's artistic inclinations became apparent. She would often envision herself dancing and performing on television, and her passion for the arts only intensified as she grew older. Throughout her childhood, Elle honed her skills by taking piano lessons and acting in local theater productions. In high school, she even founded a dance group called the 'Hot Ice Dancers' and discovered her true calling in performing in front of live audiences.
Elle's competitive spirit led her to participate in three beauty pageants during her teenage years, where she finished as a runner-up on multiple occasions. Her crowning achievement came when she won the coveted title of Miss Black Canada in the 1990s.
Since then, Elle has dedicated herself to a successful acting career, appearing in a range of TV series and feature films. Her impressive resume boasts credits in shows like Kevin Hill, Monk, and 1-800-MISSING, as well as the feature film Godsend, starring the legendary Robert De Niro. Throughout her journey, Elle has had the privilege of working alongside esteemed actors such as Lynn Whitfield, Greg Kinnear, Rebecca Romijn, Vivica A. Fox, and Malcolm McDowell.
Despite her accomplishments, Elle still harbors a deep passion for music and is currently working on her own musical projects in her spare time. Her love for music remains an integral part of her artistic identity, and she continues to pursue her dreams with unwavering dedication and enthusiasm.
