Upon arriving in the States, Crialese enrolled in the prestigious film direction program at New York University, a decision that would prove to be a turning point in his career. It was during his time at NYU that he had the opportunity to hone his skills, to experiment with different techniques, and to gain invaluable experience in the field.

As he continued to refine his craft, Crialese went on to direct a number of short films, each one a testament to his growing talent and his unwavering dedication to his art. And then, in 1997, the moment of truth arrived, as Crialese made his feature-length debut with the film "Once We Were Strangers".
