Emil Johnsen, a Scandinavian actor, has gained recognition for his roles in films such as Corridor (2012),Ego (2013),and Guidance (2009). Born in Botswana, Africa, Emil grew up in a rural setting with five siblings and parents who worked as doctors. His mother, who is of English, German, and Jewish descent, and his Norwegian father, brought their large family from urban city life to the African villages of Maun and Molepolole, where Emil spent most of his childhood and early teenage years.
As a young boy, Emil developed an interest in acting, starring in school theatre plays. His mother's family, who were Jewish actors, artists, and musicians, had a rich heritage in the performing arts. However, after the war, they dispersed across the world. Emil's family returned to Norway as a teenager, and he began pursuing his acting career. He left for New York City to attend the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
Among his six siblings, Emil was the only one to pursue acting, although his sister Sara Johnsen is a renowned film director in Norway, and they have collaborated on several projects. New York became Emil's second home for several years. Upon returning to Europe, he enrolled at the State Academy of Theatre in Sweden, where he spent four years honing his craft.
After completing his training, Emil began working in both Swedish and Norwegian theatres, as well as in the film industry. He has acted in several feature films and TV shows, earning awards for his performances in starring feature roles. Due to his diverse background, Emil is fluent in English, Norwegian, and Swedish. He has recently studied with Ivana Chubbuck and has representation in Los Angeles.
