Emilie, born on December 27, grew up in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia.
At the age of 15, she was accepted into the prestigious Australian Ballet School in Melbourne, but after just one year, she decided to pursue acting instead.
Her first major role was in the fantasy drama BeastMaster in 1999, but it was her part as Tess in the popular TV series Roswell that really launched her career.
After two years on Roswell, she made notable guest appearances in CSI: Miami and The Handler.
She then branched out into film, making her debut at Sundance 2005 with the award-winning indie film Brick, and went on to star in the remake of The Hills Have Eyes, which debuted at number one in the UK box office.
Emilie also had a recurring role on the Emmy award-winning ABC series Lost, playing Claire, a young Australian who gave birth on a mysterious island and had a close relationship with Charlie.
She then starred as Belle in the hit ABC series Once Upon a Time, a modern retelling of classic fairy tales.
Today, Emilie lives in California with her dogs Louise and cat Stanley, and is engaged to Eric Bilitch. The couple has two children, daughter Vera and son Theodore.
