Emma Caulfield's early life was marked by her passion for drama, which began to take shape during her studies at the La Jolla Playhouse and the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, California. She won the prestigious "Excellence in Theatre Arts" award, a testament to her talent and dedication. Before completing high school, Emma continued her drama studies at The American School in Switzerland (TASIS) in London.
Emma's breakthrough role came when she was cast as the young and beautiful demon-turned-mortal "Anya" on the popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, starting in 1999. Initially, her role was conceived as a guest appearance, but Joss Whedon recognized her talent and brought her back for more episodes. She eventually became a full-time series regular and appeared in most episodes of the subsequent season.
In addition to her work on Buffy, Emma has starred in numerous films, including the indie sci-fi/rom-com Timer (2009),where she played the central character Oona Leary. She has also appeared in the ensemble indie film Telling of the Shoes (2014),where she played the role of Alex, a quietly suffering wife. Her performance in the short film Hollow (2007) earned her a Best Actress award at the Beverly Hills Short Film Festival.
Emma has also ventured into television, starring in the Revolution Studios' thriller Darkness Falls (2003) as Caitlin Green, a young woman who must care for her troubled 8-year-old brother plagued by night terrors. In 2010, she juggled two shows, Gigantic and Life Unexpected, in heavily recurring arcs.
